Kitado Dojo began with one family’s wish to keep learning. Today, it connects children around the world with traditional Japanese karate. 一人のご家族の「海外に戻っても学び続けたい」という願いから始まり、今では世界で暮らす子どもたちと日本の伝統空手をつないでいます。

01How it began開設のきっかけ
“Can my child keep learning from America?” 「アメリカに戻ってからも、指導してもらえませんか」
A student who divided the year between Japan and the United States had been training with us while in Japan. When the family prepared to return to America, the student’s Japanese parent asked whether those lessons could continue from overseas.
日本とアメリカを行き来して暮らす子どもが、日本にいる間、私たちのもとで稽古をしていました。アメリカへ戻る時、その子の日本人の保護者から「帰国後も指導を続けてもらえないか」と相談を受けました。
That simple question became the starting point for Kitado Dojo. In 2023, we opened as an online dojo so that distance would not end a child’s connection with karate.
その一言が、北戸道場の原点です。住む場所が変わっても空手とのつながりを絶やさないため、2023年にオンライン道場として開設しました。

Children with similar lives joined from the United States, Qatar, Indonesia, and beyond. Online training gradually became a regular part of the dojo.同じような生活をする子どもたちが、アメリカ、カタール、インドネシアなどから参加。オンラインでの活動は少しずつ広がっていきました。

A place to keep progressing学び続けられる場所へ
Requests for remote grading opportunities, and interest from children unable to travel to Japan, revealed a wider need: a place to learn authentic Japanese karate without crossing an ocean.オンラインでの昇級審査を望む声や、日本へ来ることはできなくても日本の空手を学びたいという声が集まり、本格的なオンライン道場として活動を続けています。
